Dave Bautista becomes after”Guardians of the Galaxy part 3“Don’t play Drax anymore. This is nothing newAfter all, Bautista has repeatedly expressed his desire to give up the Marvel role after concluding the trilogy with “Volume 3”. Drax could remain part of the MCU, but he wouldn’t be played by him again, the ex-wrestler explained around May 2021. But where does that desire to say goodbye to Marvel after nine years and seven films come from? Bautista now found explanatory words.
On a large portrait in the magazine Bautista is quoted as saying: “I am very grateful to Drax. I love him. But I’m also relieved that it’s over. It wasn’t just fun. It was hard to play that role. The makeup process bothered me. And I just don’t know if I want Drax to be my legacy too. It’s a silly role and I want to do more dramatic things.”
For all his love for Drax, the character Bautista is apparently too one-dimensional and he fears being nailed into the role of the very funny, but also simple and often acting with the sensitivity of a hammer Drax.
Dave Bautista: A really good actor
And given how much Bautista has raised his profile as an actor in recent years and the strong impact he’s made in the films of some of the greatest filmmakers of our time, it’s understandable. Bautista has appeared in Sam Mendes’ “James Bond 007 – Spectre”, Denis Villeneuve’s “Blade Runner 2049” and “Dune” and most recently in Rian Johnson’s “Glass Onion”, proving he can also shine in dramatic roles.
And while this movie hasn’t come out yet, promises the trailer for “Knock on the hutby Twistmaster M. Night Shyamalan (“The Sixth Sense”) the next great performance from Dave Bautista:
The ex-wrestler explained this : “I have never spoken so much in a movie. They are page-long monologues. We shot on real film, which is very expensive. And with a camera, so not the luxury of editing. There’s only one chance – you need a perfect shot. It’s extremely busy.”
How good Dave Bautista is, we will find out in “Knock At The Cabin” on February 16, 2023 in German cinemas. The farewell appearance as Drax in “Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3” will follow on May 3, 2023.
