“Kill the snowman”: This is the fate “Frozen” fan favorite Olaf would have expected if the director had his way

The snowman Olaf is probably one of the most popular Disney sidekicks of the recent past. And why wouldn’t he? After all, the cute snowball with the heart of gold is really too sweet when he longs for summer in his songs or dreams of growing up. But he almost had a very different fate before the start of the film and the plucky snowman never would have existed, as “Frozen – Totally Unabashed” director Jennifer Lee has now revealed.

Because Olaf was actually the first thing the filmmaker wanted to remove when she joined the project in 2013 – Jennifer Lee confessed that during the presentation of the annualwhere she received an award in the Distinguished Storyteller category – by the way, the award was presented to her by none other than Beauty and the Beast Josh Gad, the same actor who starred in Lends His Voice to Olaf in the English version.

The director explained that she was a little late to join Frozen and after seeing an early cut, she wasn’t too thrilled with the likeable Olaf. The filmmaker confessed: “My first comment was, ‘Kill the snowman'”

But luckily everything should turn out very differently and Olaf should get a wonderful animation life. One animator had already come up with a three-page script with Gad in mind – and since the director already knew the comedian from a late night TV appearance and was very impressed with him, she couldn’t resist the charm of the new Josh-Gad-Olaf.
