James McAvoy knows why: that’s why the new ‘X-Men’ movies got worse and worse

In an interview with the Hollywood star James McAvoy talked about his experiences as the younger version of Charles Xavier in the X-Men movies. It’s been more than a decade since director Matthew Vaughn’s hit X-Men: First Class. The film grossed over $300 million at the box office and was the start of another four-part series that would take the franchise to new heights.

The popularity of the movies declined exponentially from part to part. While “X-Men: First Class” and “X-Men: Days of Future Past” still enjoyed much love, “X-Men: Apocalypse” and “X-Men: Dark Phoenix” were already much more critically received. McAvoy also shares this opinion and explains in an interview why, in his opinion, the series got worse and worse. He also revealed if he expects his role to return in the MCU multiverse.

Friendship as the backbone of the “X-Men” prequels?

McAvoy explains that the great strength of X-Men: First Class lies in the friendship between his character and Michael Fassbender’s Magneto. It’s wonderful to watch a positive relationship turn into an ethical rivalry. This is where his criticism begins: “My biggest criticism of what we’ve done in the four movies is that after the first part we didn’t exploit the relationship between Xavier and Michael Fassbender’s Magneto, even though it was the backbone of the first movie that was made. represented. . Why did we just throw this massive weapon away?

In addition, McAvoy says he enjoyed the job and counts it among the most positive experiences of his career. This naturally invites speculation about a possible comeback. Finally, the multiverse has finally arrived in the MCU in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. This makes it possible to access almost all characters in the Marvel canon. This causes excitement among the fans: What comebacks can we expect in the next films?

McAvoy in the Multiverse: Fans can’t count on the actor making a comeback

Wolverine’s appearance in the upcoming “Deadpool 3” has already been confirmed. The elderly Dr. Xavier, played by Patrick Stewart, also returns after his role in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. So it makes sense to confront McAvoy about his potential comeback. His response may disappoint some fans, though it’s not without a wink: “I’m very quick to be like ‘No, I’m done’ or ‘I wouldn’t mind coming back.’ […] Anyway, I didn’t get a call. And if I got it, I certainly wouldn’t tell you.

While that doesn’t hold much hope for McAvoy’s speedy return, we remain excited to see what the future holds for us. Marvel has not yet officially announced a new X-Men movie. After all, McAvoy still seems to be pondering the quality of the “X-Men” movies. Maybe you can at least get him as an advisor, so the next movie will definitely be a success.
