Over the past two years, many Swiss cities and municipalities have sounded the alarm, observing a significant increase in the phenomenon known as littering during the curfew. Now the situation has calmed down considerably.
In addition, cities and municipalities reacted to the increase of garbage during the Corona years with various measures. The media also contributed to raising awareness by addressing the issue.
The situation has improved across Switzerland. Seven years ago, one in four people surveyed thought there was too much or too much garbage in Switzerland, while this year it’s still almost a fifth.
The fact that the situation has improved is also illustrated by the fact that only 28 percent of people surveyed this year are quite or strongly uncomfortable with littering. It was three-quarters seven years ago and almost half in 2021.
