Anyone who is no longer satisfied with the premium or service has to change the basic insurance. Health insurance companies have to cover everyone with compulsory health insurance.
Tip 1 – Termination
The termination must reach the old health insurance within working hours by 30 November at the latest. At the same time, the record must be available to the new insurer by that time. The Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) recommends sending a letter by registered mail or A Mail Plus, if possible, by mid-November for both termination and registration.
If you only want to change the exemption rate with the current insurer, you must do so by the end of November for a lower exemption and you have until the end of the year for a higher exemption.
Tip #2 – Compare bonuses
Watch out for some health insurance brokers, take a close look at their premium comparisons! Be careful when making an appointment with a health insurance agent. Many insured individuals are not suited to the pressure and negotiation skills of brokers. If there is an appointment, do not sign anything at the first meeting – neither a notice of termination, nor a power of attorney, nor an application.
- Compare right! Premium calculators are available on various portals such as Compparis.ch (choose the full view of offers), Swupp.ch or Moneyland.ch.
Tip 3 – Premium calculator from the federal government
Insurance quotes from all health insurers can be found on FOPH’s Priminfo.ch platform. In addition, BAG has set up the telephone line 058 464 88 01. The insured can contact this phone immediately for their questions.
And think carefully about the medical costs and treatments you will face in the coming year. After that, the franchise needs to be adjusted: experts recommend either the highest or the lowest. An occasional franchise isn’t worth it.
