Just in time for Halloween, RTLZwei has another special treat in the program: Just like a year ago, fresh deliveries of the cult series “X-Factor: The Ungraspable”, which is very popular in Germany and first ran between 1997 and 2002, produced exclusively for Germany. Instead of one, there are even two new episodes this time.
The big highlight: Although it’s a German production (though filmed in English in the US), the moderator from then managed to win again this time: Starship Enterprise: The Next Century star Jonathan Frakes takes us through five incredible (scary) storiesthat are either fictional or loosely inspired by real events.
However, there is a small drop of bitterness that die-hard fans should immediately notice: Jonathan Frakes has a new voice over. Neither his first “X-Factor” voice, Michael Christian, nor his later (fixed) voice, Detlef Bierstedt, can be heard (who also heard Frakes in the new 2021 “X-Factor” episode and his “X-Factor” Factor” guest appearance in the German Netflix series “How To Sell Drugs Online (Fast)”). The successor of the two is Patrick Zwingmann, who has not had many well-known actors on his resume, but who anime fans may know as the masked Bastille from “One Piece”.
That’s why Jonathan Frakes has a new spokesperson
There’s a simple reason why Jonathan Frakes suddenly sounds very different from what we’re used to: His now 70-year-old voice actor Detlef Bierstedt recently revealed in an interview that he had already decided a few months ago to step down and not take any more dubbing jobs (concentrating entirely on his audiobook work instead).
This has recently impacted the latest roles of George Clooney in “Ticket to Paradise” and Stellan Skarsgård in the “Star Wars” series “Andor”, both of which were also largely spoken by Bierstedt, who for many years has generally been one of Germany’s best-known and busiest voice actor. Bierstedt also regularly lent his voice to other Hollywood stars such as Bill Pullman and John C. Reilly. As head of the Stan Smith family, he was also an integral part of the hit series “American Dad!”, which is still running.
But Jonathan Frakes fans will also have to brace themselves for further changes after Bierstedt voiced the actor across the entire “Star Trek” franchise, including the new series “Star Trek: Picard” and “Star Trek: Lower Decks.” . In the third and final season of “Star Trek: Picard,” which begins in February 2023, Frakes’ character Will Riker will not only take on a bigger role, but will also sound different in German than in any of his previous ones. “Star Trek” appearances. It is not yet known whether they will use their new “X-Factor” voice or look for another new speaker.
