After production was significantly delayed, it currently appears that filming for Season 5, Part 2 of “Yellowstone” will finally begin this summer. However, it is still unclear whether we will see Kevin Costner in front of the camera again in any form as John Dutton. He actually left the project, probably because he wanted to create his own Western epic with “Horizon: An American Saga.”
John Dutton can still be expected to return, because just like previous seasons, Josh Lucas (“Le Mans 66”) will once again portray the younger John in flashbacks. In conversation with He has now revealed that he recently spoke with Taylor Sheridan and she gave him a message that will surely make “Yellowstone” fans happy:
Can we expect an XXL finale?
“I talked to Taylor a few months ago and said, ‘Hey, I enjoyed working on the show.’ And he said, ‘It will continue. I think we’ll do about ten episodes or more and wrap up the story.
How many episodes part 2 of season 5 will contain has not yet been officially announced. The Yellowstone finale was rumored to be six episodes long. But for Taylor Sheridan, that’s apparently not enough time to bring the story to an adequate and coherent conclusion. Especially if Kevin Costner is really no longer involved. To compensate for Costner’s departure, Sheridan may rely more heavily on flashbacks, giving Josh Lucas more room to develop.
