Good news for fans of the hit series ‘Baywatch’: the American broadcaster Fox is planning a new edition of the series with well-trained lifeguards in the well-known red swimsuits.
Production company Fremantle is involved in the reboot together with Fox Entertainment, American industry newspapers reported on Monday (local time).
Accordingly, the classic series is filmed with a new group of actors. Lara Olsen (“Spinning Out”) is on board as showrunner. She will be joined by three producers from the original series, it was said.
The series ‘Baywatch’ attracted millions of people around the world to their televisions in the 1990s. Between 1989 and 2001, ‘the lifeguards of Malibu’ sprinted through the Californian sand in more than 240 episodes, spread over a total of eleven seasons.
Spectator magnets were women like Pamela Anderson and Carmen Electra, who, in their skimpy outfits and with a lot of bare skin, formed the team around lead rescuer David Hasselhoff. For a 2017 theatrical release, director Seth Gordon (“Kill the Boss”) brought Zac Efron, Dwayne Johnson and Kelly Rohrbach on camera as lifeguards. (cst/sda/dpa)
