“Game Of Thrones” fans have everything in store for them in the coming years: the second season of “House Of The Dragon” starts in 2024, the first season of the new spin-off “A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight” to follow in 2025, before season 3 of “House Of The Dragon” is expected to continue in 2026. And then there are countless other ‘GoT’ spinoffs in the works. That’s all well and good, but what fans REALLY want to know is: when will the “House Of The Dragon” refill finally arrive?
The good news: ‘House Of The Dragon’ season 2 will start in the first half of 2024, namely in June. In the US this will be the case with HBO, in Germany we expect a parallel launch on Sky and WOW as usual. The bad news: Unfortunately, we still don’t have an exact start date. But it will probably be another early Monday morning when we get to see the new fantasy episodes, as the big HBO shows in the US usually run on Sunday evenings.
Season 2 starts in June: this is how it continues
JB Perrette of Warner Bros. Discovery confirmed the June launch in a conference interview (via ). However, this statement does not really come as a surprise: although it was initially called “early summer”, Warner CEO David Zaslav recently talked about “the second quarter of 2024” – which in combination can only be June. Yet Perrette’s confirmation is now the most concrete thing we have heard officially about a start date.
What is also known: While the opening season had ten episodes, the second season of ‘House Of The Dragon’ will only have eight episodes. While we’ll have to wait a few more months before we find out exactly what happens with Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy), her uncle-husband Daemon (Matt Smith), opponent Alicent (Olivia Cooke), the battle for the Iron Throne and of course the dragon continues, novelist George RR Martin has already been able to watch season 2.
