Strait of Viamala GR
Although “Via mala” means “bad road” in Romansh, the Viamala Gorge is one of the most impressive gorges in Switzerland. The rocks, whose height reaches 300 meters, are located between Itsis GR and Andeer GR. The gorge has been visited by many writers, including Friedrich Nietzsche (1844-1900) and Theodor Fontane (1819-1898). Today there is a visitor center, exciting trails and a viewing platform at the heart of the natural wonder.
Uina Strait GR
The magnificent Uina Gorge is located in Graubünden Val d’Uina. Il Quar’s path through the rocks is particularly popular with passionate hikers. During the walk, you can gaze at the babbling Uina river from meters below. Those brave enough to cross the pass will be met at the exit of Alp Sursass’ vast pasture. Among other things, the valley was also a filming location for the Swiss movie “Schellen-Ursli” (2015).
Tamina Gorge SG
The healing water is said to swell deep within the Tamina Gorge SG, the famous Pfäferser thermal water. The gorge is about 750 meters long, 70 meters high and is open to visitors. One road runs through a tunnel partially dug into the rock face. On your way to the source, you will be accompanied by a 36.5-degree whirlpool of warm water, flowing about 8000 liters per minute.
Rosenlaui BE glacier pass
The Rosenlaui glacier gorge is located in the romantic Rosenlauital near Meiringen BE. There, Weissenbach formed a 573-metre-long and 155-metre-high gorge into the glacier. Today you can hike in the narrow valley, pass through the tunnels and admire the waterfalls in the valley.
Aare Strait BE
Visitors will find an adventurous route through the Aare Gorge. It lies between Meiringen BE and Innertkirchen BE and is 1.4 kilometers long. You can hike along the Aare in 40 minutes, passing through 200-meter-high cliffs with sections about one meter wide. The western half of the pass is also wheelchair accessible.
Taubenloch Pass BE
The Taubenloch Gorge between Biel BE and Friedliswart BE is one of the most popular destinations in the area. The nearly two-kilometer-long gorge promises an experience any time of the year. In addition to the Schüss flowing through the gorge, there is also a wealth of flora and fauna on the hiking trail.
Verena Gorge SO
Verena Gorge is an idyllic place full of stories and fairy tales. A monk is said to still live here today. Sometimes you can find candle lights among the rocks. Thanks to the easily walkable path along the parade, the show is a destination for all age groups.
Gorges de l’Areuse NE
The Gorges de l’Areuse is located between Noiraigue and Boudry in the canton of Neuchâtel. Here, the otherwise calm Areuse River gushes through magical rocks. A hiking trail winds through narrow areas of the valley, over stone bridges and stairs.
