Do you want to buy the legendary “Star Wars” vehicle in the UCS version from LEGO? Forget it! Instead, buy the alternate version of the iconic one AT-AT by Mold King. Because the gigantic building kit not only looks better, but also costs less than a third (!) of the LEGO model.
Amazon is currently offering a 15 percent discount on Mold King’s AT-AT. This means the set only costs 199.75 euros. For comparison: The AT-AT from Lego* The best-case scenario currently stands at 672.68 euros. Another comparison: this one small AT-AT from Lego* costs 144.99 euros, but has almost 6,000 fewer parts.
Mold King’s AT-AT: as good as LEGO?
Given the huge price difference, you’re probably wondering if the quality of Mold King’s AT-AT can keep up with LEGO’s. The answer is a resounding yes. A lot of LEGO fans And LEGO critics have covered the two kits in detail. The result: Both are almost equal in quality. In some ways, Mold King is even leading the way.
If you want to put an AT-AT on your shelf, you have a choice between two similarly good models. With the big difference that at Mold King you get exactly that 472.83 euros less paid! So you could look at Mold King’s AT-AT, the UCS X-Wing from LEGO* And Luke Skywalker’s landspeeder from LEGO* buy and still spend 68.84 euros less than just on the LEGO AT-AT.
But now to the AT-AT from Mold King: the model consists of 6,919 shares and is no less than 74.4 cm long, 58 cm high and 25.6 cm wide. The LEGO alternative has 6,785 parts and is 69 cm long, 62 cm high and 24 cm wide – slightly shorter, but also slightly higher. The biggest visual difference is in the tiled surfaces of the Mold King model. There are a lot of studs on LEGO. That is of course a matter of taste, but with the Mold King it just looks much more authentic.
Mold King AT-AT: More stable and motorizable
Otherwise, there are other differences between the models. The head of the LEGO AT-AT hangs down a bit and the completed kit is slightly unstable. The head is movable. Mold King has a stiff head and an overall more stable construction, even though the feet are not as firmly connected to the legs as with LEGO. Both models are hinged and have a detailed interior.
The LEGO kit also includes the popular minifigures. Given the price difference, you can also do this Simply buy it from the Mold King-AT-AT and would still have saved significantly. An alternative to the AT-AT is the Mold King razor emblem with a 19 percent discount for only 137.70 euros on Amazon.
There’s equally good kit here too LEGO Razor Emblem* for a fraction of the price. While LEGO charges 525 euros, you pay almost 400 euros less for the Mold King alternative. In return you get a very good LEGO alternative, even if the Danish company’s Razor Crest is one of the better UCS sets. The Mold King variant has almost 1,000 fewer parts and comes without minifigures. However, considering the price, this is bearable.
