TCL still largely flies under the radar in this country. According to someone, the Chinese company would be there in 2022 Statistical evaluation With a market share of 11.7 percent, it is the second largest TV manufacturer in the world. The TCL T8A is one of the most powerful models in the product portfolio and shines with some surprising features.
Most recently there was the 55 inch version (139 cm) of the T8A for 659 euros. Amazon now offers you a discount of 90 euros and has the T8A on sale for only 569 euros. This model has never been so cheap! Also the versions with 65 inches (165cm)* And 75 inches (190cm)* are currently extremely cheap.
TCL T8A: Is the budget TV really that good?
On paper, the TCL T8A’s technology sounds almost too good to be true. However, there are no reliable tests. Apparently the T8A is identical in construction to the C745because TCL advertises both models with the label ‘Best Gaming TV’ EISA departments 2023-2024. And the technical specifications are also like one egg inside the other.
Hifi.de I reviewed the TCL C745 in November and gave it a score of 8.6, which is not a top score, but very surprising considering the price. Above all, the image quality is impressive high peak brightness, even surpassing some Samsung and LG models. The T8A panel is also divided into 120 dimming zones, which achieves a very good black value.
The result is an extremely high contrast that literally surpasses the competition, especially in this price range. The brightness values of the TCL also cannot be matched by other cheap TVs. For comparison: The TCL T8A achieves more than 800 nits. The more expensive Hisense E7KQ Pro* comes from in the test Hifi.de only at 400 nits.
Perfect for HDR effects in HDR10+ and Dolby Vision
So if you like watching films and series with HDR effects, the T8A is Hisense’s competitor miles superior. The TCL supports both HDR10+ and Dolby Vision IQ and offers very good intermediate image calculation, which according to Hifi.de even performs better than Samsung’s QLED flagship QN95C.
That the T8A is in the affordable price range will only become clear in… very dark scenes clearly. The display eats up some details here, but with the image settings you can still get a lot out of the panel. Just play around with the controls a bit to find the best value for you.
Gamers will appreciate the T8A’s numerous features. The TCL TV supports all technologies such as ALLM and VRR and offers up to 144 Hz. This also allows a gaming PC to be connected. The input lag is just nine milliseconds at 120 Hz. Thanks to Google TV as an operating system, you also have access to all streaming apps, including some exotic ones.
TCL C641: The affordable alternative to the TCL T8A
A cheap alternative to the TCL T8A is the TCL C641 for currently 469.18 euros on Amazon. To get this price you must activate the 69 euro discount coupon on the product page by clicking on the corresponding box.
The C641 is actually the Significantly downsized version of the T8A. Instead of 120 Hz there is 60 Hz and instead of a high peak brightness there is only a fairly average brightness of around 600 nits. As a result, HDR effects don’t look as brilliant as on the T8A. Still, with the C641 you get a QLED display, Google TV and many gaming functions for fast gaming – all for well under 500 euros.
