THE GRAND PRIZE OF THE INTERNATIONAL JURY
This year the international jury consisted of filmmakers Faouzi Bensaïdi from Morocco (“Déserts”), Pierfrancesco Favino from Italy (“Comandante”), Lillah Halla from Brazil (“Power Alley”), Marie Kreutzer from Austria (“Corsage”) and Katell Quillévéré from France (“Le Temps D’Aimer”). After intensive discussions they came to “Street cap” by Jean Baptiste Durand agreed:
Antoine (Raphaël Quenard) and Dog (Anthony Bajon) have basically always been best friends – which is why they’ve hung out together pretty much since childhood. But when Dog falls in love with Elsa (Galatéa Bellugi), everything suddenly changes and their friendship is put to the test this summer. The mega-jealous Antoine in particular has difficulty with the new situation…
Jury statement: “We gave the top prize to Street Mutt by Jean-Baptiste Durand, which impressed us with its extremely detailed portrayal of the intrinsic relationship, both romantic and violent, between characters in the French countryside. The film finds access to a wider audience in an unconventional and universal way. It is a wonderfully tender and subtle film about the transition to adulthood, with an emphasis on how difficult communication can be, especially between men. Surprising, atmospheric, authentic and simple, but with so many layers. After this incredibly mature debut, we can’t wait to see what this director will create next.”

The audience voted for “Best Feature Film” for “Dogs and Italians prohibited” by Alain Ugetto decided: In the autobiographical animated puppet film, a young Frenchman searches for his family’s origins – and thus comes across the story of his grandfather, who left his native village of Ughettera in Northern Italy at the beginning of the 20th century to survive. difficult crossing of the Alps river in France to build a new life for yourself and your family…
Meanwhile, the Audience Award for Best Short Film goes to ‘Underdog’ by David Arslanian: 23-year-old student Mirko only has a few hours to earn as much money as possible with his deliveries as a bicycle courier. Otherwise he will lose his apartment. But it’s a particularly cold winter night…
THE PRIZES OF THE INTERNATIONAL PRESS JURY
The prize of the press jury consisting of film critics from Chile, Belgium, Bulgaria, Turkey, Great Britain, Malaysia and Brazil In 2024, this, just like the audience award, will also go to ‘Dogs and Italians banned’.
Jury statement: “For its deft narrative, which gives us insight into the little-known history of European migrations, but also for its sensitivity and sincerity, and also for the beauty of its formal and technical implementation. A poetic and ingenious stop-motion production in which the director literally interacts by placing his hands in the frame and sharing his own family history.”
THE CONTENT CREATOR JURY PRIZE
The big news of the 14th edition: for the first time, film-loving content makers will award a prize to the best short film. The first members of this newly created jury were Cécilia Jourdan (@hellofrenchnyc), Abdelraouf Meraga & Nadjib Adda (@cilimastation) and Alexandre Neyraud (@diversificationlitteraire).
