Legendary TV crime thriller from the makers of ‘Das Boot’ soon no longer available? Star wants her nude scenes banned

When ‘Tatort: Matriculation Certificate’ was first shown in 1977, almost everyone listened. Much discussion arose and the crime thriller became perhaps the most legendary entry in the famous series. Director Wolfgang Petersen conquered Hollywood after his next works “Das Boot” and “The Neverending Story” with titles such as “In The Line Of Fire”, “Air Force One” and “Troja”. The path of leading actress Nastassja Kinski also led to the dream factory. Just a few years later she won the Golden Globe for her role in Roman Polanski’s ‘Tess’ and went on to collaborate with Francis Ford Coppola, Paul Schrader and of course ‘Paris, Texas’ with Wim Wenders. .

The focus of ‘Tatort: Matriculation Certificate’ is on the forbidden relationship between student Sina (Kinski) and her much older teacher (Christian Quadflieg). When a classmate finds out, he blackmails Sina and demands sex from her. But she kills her blackmailer and wants to blame the crime on a rapist currently wanted by the police.

The female lead character in the crime thriller is 17 years old, but Kinski was only 15 when the numerous nude scenes were filmed. And it is precisely this age that is now the starting point with which she wants to ensure that ‘Tatort’ is no longer broadcast in its entirety.

No legally valid consent from a minor

Again reports, her lawyer has contacted the NDR with a corresponding request. Because Kinski was underage and unaccompanied on set, there was never legal permission to film the nude scenes. If you do accept this, the letter will withdraw it for the future.

Since it would be very difficult to imagine a broadcast of “Tatort: Reifezeugnis” without the controversial nude scenes, one can assume that the crime thriller would no longer be shown at all if the NDR were to give in to the request.

The ARD broadcasters currently have no problem broadcasting – on the contrary. One of the best-known crime novels from the long-running series is regularly shown. This was last the case on rbb in early 2024, and before that on NDR in the summer of 2023. In 2022 there were even five broadcasts on various ARD channels and on arte.

“I really don’t know what went into the minds of those responsible.”

On the NDR website for the film At the time the article appeared, there was even a quote from the NDR television film boss, which may be true in substance, but sounds more than strange in 2024: “Maturity certificate with Nastassja Kinski was a sexual initiation for many people among male youth in the 1970s. . That’s another reason why this crime scene has become the stuff of legend.”

This statement was also understandably criticized by Kinski’s lawyer, as it is a different matter today than it was during filming in the 1970s, when times and cultural circumstances were different. He cannot understand that in the here and now, especially after countless #MeToo scandals in film and television, the NDR literally describes nude scenes with a minor as the sexual awakening moment of many men: knowing what is going on in the minds of those responsible goes,” he explains .

At Spiegel’s request, NDR announced that no broadcast of “Tatort: Matriculation Certificate” was currently planned. Nastassja Kinski’s request will be responded to in a timely manner.

Nastassja Kinski will soon be seen in cinemas

Nastassja Kinski has been seen less often in larger films in front of the camera lately. In German cinemas she played an important role in Thomas Stuber’s “The Silent Trabants” in 2022. She also appeared in the role of Tera in the original version of the Netflix animated series “Castlevania: Nocturne”. A few years ago, there was a bigger comeback on the horizon. Quentin Tarantino reportedly wanted her for the role of actress and spy Bridget von Hammersmark in “Inglourious Basterds,” but then cast the role alongside Diane Kruger.

She will soon have a guest appearance in the “Fack Ju Göhte” spin-off “Chantal in Fairytale Land”. The theatrical release is March 28, 2024.
