Science fiction fans have had reason to rejoice in recent years, as both on streaming and on the big screen there are always exciting projects that make the hearts of genre fans beat faster. And the next highlight will come at the end of the month with the monumental sequel “Dune 2”.
There will also be some movies in the future that friends of strange worlds and cosmic adventures can look forward to. The science fiction thriller ‘Ash’ seems to be a very exciting project. The mere choice of director is likely to cause puzzled looks, especially among music connoisseurs, as none other than the legendary musician, DJ and producer Flying lotus will direct the film and also compose the soundtrack for the thriller. He recently directed part of the horror anthology “V/H/S/99”.
And it seems Amazon is convinced of the quality of the sci-fi thriller, as they have now secured international rights to the film, produced by genre expert Neill Blomkamp (“District 9”). This means we will likely see “Ash” exclusively on the streaming platform. It is not yet clear whether there will be a theatrical release in advance.
This is what we know about “Ash”
The plot of “Ash” definitely reads like a suspenseful mystery thriller. Here, a woman wakes up on a planet foreign to her and discovers that the entire space station crew has been brutally murdered. But then she meets a man who pretends to want to save her. Can she trust this stranger? When she tries to find out who killed these people, she sets off an unexpected chain of events – and ultimately finds herself questioning herself. Maybe it has something to do with the crew’s death?
Eiza González (“Baby Driver”) and “Breaking Bad” star Aaron Paul will star. They are supported by action star Iko Uwais (“The Raid 2”), Beulah Koale (“Next Goal Wins”) and Kate Elliott (“Dear Murderer”).
