As the responsible production companies Thunder Road Pictures, Anton and STX Entertainment have announced: is becoming “Greenland 2: MigrationFilmed in Great Britain from April 2024. It was also confirmed once again that not only Gerard Butler, but also “Deadpool” star Morena Baccarin will return.
The story continues from the ending of the predecessor ‘Greenland’ (so be careful, SPOILERS for this one): John (Gerard Butler) and Allison Garrity (Morena Baccarin) leave behind the safe bunker in Greenland that they just left at the end of the first part before most of the Earth was destroyed by a comet. Now they embark on a dangerous journey through icy and desolate Europe to find a new home.
‘Greenland 2’ as a post-apocalypse thriller
“Greenland 2” will likely differ significantly from its predecessor. After all, the film now takes place in a post-apocalyptic world. But most of the team remains the same – not just with Butler and Baccarin in front of the camera, but behind the camera as well. Because ex-stuntman Ric Roman Waugh, who in addition to the predecessor also has ‘Snitch’, ‘Angel Has Fallen’ and ‘Kandahar’ on his directing resume, will direct again.
‘Greenland’ author Chris Sparling has also reimagined the script. It was then revised again by Mitchell LaFortune, who had already collaborated with Waugh and Butler on the aforementioned “Kandahar.”
“Greenland 2” is expected to release sometime in 2025.
By the way, Gerard Butler is currently in front of the camera for the fantasy live-action adaptation of the animated project “How to Train Your Dragon” and will next shoot “Greenland 2.” He has already shot another highly anticipated sequel, which is expected to be released in 2024: “Den Of Thieves 2” aka “Criminal Squad 2”. Morena Baccarin will soon be seen in Deadpool & Wolverine. The first trailer for the new MCU movie has just been released, but it gives the impression that her role will be quite small:
