According to the Paris Observatory IMCCE Institute, the phenomenon begins at 10:58 am CEST in Iceland and ends at 15:02 CEST in India.
The solar eclipse in Switzerland will be visible at 11:15 – for about two hours.
A solar eclipse occurs when the sun, moon, and earth are aligned. If the alignment is perfect, the moon’s shadow hits the earth to completely cover the sun and a total solar eclipse occurs.
The Paris Observatory said that in the upcoming partial solar eclipse, the umbra of the moon will not hit the earth’s surface, making it “impossible to observe a total solar eclipse anywhere.”
Penumbra will drop in Europe on Tuesday
The maximum value of the eclipse will be reached at 82.2 percent over Siberia. That’s not enough for the pitch-black feeling, astronomer Florent Deleflie said. The upcoming solar eclipse is the 16th partial solar eclipse of the 21st century.
Although the event is a special spectacle for every observer, under no circumstances should you look at the sun unprotected during a solar eclipse. The already bright rays of the sun are so strongly bundled by the cornea and lens of the eye that retinal burns occur. This is why solar eclipse glasses are recommended.
