Tom Holland’s Spider-Man was thrown straight into the battle of the mighty Avengers (“Civil War”) and then had to battle aliens (“Infinity War” and “Endgame”) to learn more about the multiverse (“Far From Home”) and then save it along with other incarnations of himself (“No Way Home”). Quite a lot for the friendly neighborhood spider. That should change in “Spider-Man 4.” The ending of “No Way Home” paved the way for this. None of his friends and acquaintances remember him anymore – he is now out of all the crazy adventures of the Avengers.
Reports have been circulating about it for some time that “Spider-Man 4” is going back to its roots. He should tackle crime in his neighborhood again. “Spider-Man 4” is likely linked to series like “Echo” and “Daredevil: Born Again.” Here the Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio) is developed into a powerful opponent for these “heroes of the street”. He could also play an important role in ‘Spider-Man 4’. But since he’s possibly the big, powerful, background mastermind who should remain in the MCU moving forward, more villains are needed. There are new rumors circulating here now.
Hammerhead Shark and Tombstone in “Spider-Man 4”?
The MCU Scooper indicated, that Marvel characters Hammerhead and Tombstone could be present as villains in “Spider-Man 4.” Tombstone is the leader of a motorcycle gang whose skin becomes bulletproof and impenetrable after a chemical accident. Hammerhead is a gangster whose skeleton has been partially replaced, giving him exceptional upper body strength. There are always reports that the characters Scorpion (Michael Mando) and Prowler (Donald Glover) will return.
What all these characters have in common is that… Gangsters and criminals from the street who fit very well into the grounded scenario and the ‘back to the roots of the character’. They also fit well with Kingpin. They can be positioned both as accomplices of the latter and as competitors. The finale of “Echo” gave us a brief hint that there are several criminal clans operating in New York.
Who will be the Marvel hero besides Spider-Man?
What’s pretty certain is that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man won’t have to face all these villains alone. This is partly based on the agreement between Sony and Disney about collaboration on MCU films surrounding Spider-Man: Because Disney is allowed to use the popular hero in films such as “The Avengers: Endgame” and Co., Sony is also allowed to do so. in return, you ‘borrow’ a main character from the MCU for each Spider-Man solo film. Who will follow Iron Man in Homecoming, Nick Fury in Far From Home and Doctor Strange in No Way Home?
Rumors recently circulated that Sony officials chose Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) for this. With his past as a thief and part of the underworld, he may fit very well into the intended scenario. ‘Daredevil’ Charlie Cox should also be involved.
However, these are still rumors (albeit very credible) and should therefore be treated with some caution. It is not yet known when “Spider-Man 4” will hit theaters.
