“Man flu” really exists!: Sick men are more nostalgic and sensitive

Canadian researcher Kyle Sue of the Memorial University of Newfoundland Health Sciences Center believes there is such a thing as male flu. This leads to the hypothesis that sex-linked hormones may play an important role in the effects of influenza. Another study showed that high testosterone levels in men led to a weaker immune response. One theory states that testosterone promotes aggression, but hormones that strengthen the immune response are lost. Another study showed that sick men were more likely to go to the hospital and that fatal consequences of the flu were more likely in men.
