Rechaud explodes during a fondue evening in Chur – several people are injured

While preparing a fondue, the fondue restaurant in an apartment in Chur exploded on Saturday evening. Several people suffered burns and two were taken to the University Hospital of Zurich.

According to a statement from the cantonal police on Monday, the incident occurred after liquid fuel was refilled. Medical services and police found several people in an apartment with varying degrees of burns.

One person was taken directly to the University Hospital of Zurich by the Chur Rescue Service, a second person was initially taken by the Chur Rescue Service to the Cantonal Hospital of Graubünden and later also to the University Hospital of Zurich. The public prosecutor’s office of the canton of Graubünden and the cantonal police of Graubünden are investigating the cause of the accident. (sda)
