Rafael Amaya celebrates a decade as ‘Lord of the Sky’

Rafael Amaya turned 10 years old as Aurelio Casillas, the main protagonist of the series ‘El Señor de los Cielos’. Today he has a sympathetic view of character. “He is a survivor, who does everything necessary to survive,” he said in an interview with EFE.

His reflection was not born from a decade spent in the shoes of a bloody drug dealer. She was not encouraged even by the sight of the difficult experiences she went through while she was attached to him.

For the first time, Amaya feels like a winner when compared to character what is happening to him World fame. No small feat for an actor who is in the ninth season of the network’s most successful series. Telemundo and one of the most watched in Spanish in recent years.

Even less so for a man who admitted that he had succumbed addictions per vortex success of the series.

“He (Casillas) always declared ‘I’m going to get out (of drug dealing), I’m going to protect my family, I want a family,’ and he never did it until he did it and it didn’t work because the same job pulled him back. And he realized that in all this he abandoned his family. “He had a lot of mixed feelings and ended up staying in that world that hurt him so much,” he explained.

“I changed my life. Have new habits. “I learned to love myself above all else,” he said proudly.

This is something I highly doubt Casillas will achieve in the screen. “Aurelio has very broken“, he asserted. This includes self-love, which for Amaya is the key to everything.

The eighth season of the series featured a thoughtful protagonist. Affected by his touch with death (a parallel to Amaya’s real life), Casillas tried to be faithful to love and leave violence in the drug trade. That season also marked the actor’s return to the series after his health problems They held him for half of the sixth and most of the seventh.

Complex character

Although the season led the measurements audience in NOW, the numbers remained below the levels of other seasons. Sources from the production explained to EFE that “the demand of the public was for Aurelio to fully return to violence; audiences also want to see him with different women.”

Amaya admitted that it was no surprise to him. In part, he attributes this to morbidity caused by violence and promiscuity“which are part of nature human.” He also believes that the public appreciates authenticity character.

“He’s clean, he’s so guttural, so belly. It’s raw, and it all goes along with the truth. It’s like him pain: Feels instantly and reacts without thinking. “That’s Aurelio Casillas and that’s what people want to see,” he said.

On the other hand, the series presents the story of someone who came from nothing. “There are many who identify with him in his anger, in his absence filters. It is true that he is a businessman, but it is not that he studied. He is simply a person who grew up without studies and moving forward,” said the actor.

Carmen Aubwho played Rutila Casillas, daughter of Aurelija, for eight seasons, told EFE that “Rafa’s work is what changed Aurelio Casillas into the icon.”

“He could interpret at the same time vulnerability and violence of character,” he added.

Aurelio Casillas, the beast

It’s a slogan ninth seasonwhich will begin showing in the United States in February, is “The Beast Got Loose”.

“It refers to the animal that we all have inside of us,” Amaya explained, asserting that “we all have beastwhich we can control according to tools what we have”.

The trailer for the season shows Aurelius Casillas facing a machine gun ‘Cape’ (Robinson Díaz), a Colombian drug dealer who became his nemesis for several seasons. In the shadows is another enemy, presidential candidate Belén, played by Itatí Cantoral.

This season, he is also joined by Mexican actors Carmen Aub and Iván Arana, who play Casillas’ oldest children, and there is also a Cuban. Isabella Castillo as Diana Ahumada’s cousin, and the Colombian Marisela González, who reprises her role as ‘The Felina’in charge of laundering money from the drug trade.

Today, Amaya feels that she cannot be further from her character and assures that she has learned to tame her beast: “It was very difficult and it’s a daily job, but I’m still here. I highly doubt that Aurelio will achieve it, and besides, people don’t want it,” he said.
