It actually came as a surprise when Amazon announced in 2021 that the fantasy series ‘Good Omens’ would be renewed for a second season, as the adaptation of Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman’s novel of the same name was actually conceived as a completed miniseries that had already released. The plot of the template was completely covered. For Season 2, Gaiman drew on ideas beyond the book that he and Pratchett, who died in 2015, had considered for a never-published book sequel. He was apparently able to satisfy Amazon so much that another sequel is now a foregone conclusion:
‘Good Omens’ gets a third season, which tells the story of the moving relationship between the angel Erziraphael (Michael Sheen) and the demon Crowley (David Tennant) is then completed. After the heartbreaking ending of season 2, many fans will now have a heavy burden on their minds, even if they obviously have to prepare for a farewell at the same time.
Season 3 of ‘Good Omens’
According to Amazon’s official press release, ideas for continuing the story that Gaiman had already discussed with Terry Pratchett during his lifetime will also be included in the third season of “Good Omens.”
It is still unclear when exactly the finale will be released on Amazon Prime Video, but this time it will probably happen sooner than between seasons 1 and 2, which were more than four years apart. At the time, Season 2 was only announced two years after Season 1, and this time only a little over four months passed between the end of the season and the announcement.
Filming will also begin soon in Scotland so we can currently expect a release sometime in 2025.
