The Fantasy Filmfest White Nights are in the starting blocks – and as a media partner of the festival, you will be the first to hear exclusively from us about all titles in the program! We’ve already introduced you to five of the ten genre titles that the 2024 edition of White Nights will present in seven German cities, including the belated sequel to a horror hit with ‘Game Of Thrones’ star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and a grotesque beaver fight .
Detailed information and trailers for “Nightwatch: Demons Are Forever”, “Hundreds Of Beavers”, “Amelia’s Children” and “Red Rooms” can be found here, and in another article FILMSTARTS editor-in-chief Christoph Petersen has already told you the truly merciless horror movie, highlight “When Evil Lurks” recommended. And now the full program is finally known. We introduce you to the five exciting new additions:
New Movie No. 1: “Daaaaaali!”
If there’s anyone you can’t miss at the Fantasy Film Festival events, it’s Quentin Dupieux. The eccentric filmmaker has already unleashed murderous car tires (“Rubber”) and superheroes of a slightly different kind fighting a turtle (“Smoking Causes Coughing”) on us. In “Daaaaaali!” Dupieux takes a look at the life of the surrealist artist of the same name – only with a few more “a”s and Dalís (each “a” in the title stands for a different Salvador Dalí, we’re with Dupieux here!) and of course completely not as a dry biopic.
New film No. 2: “Dream Scenario”
Is Nicolas Cage your nightmare? For the people in ‘Dream Scenario’ he certainly is – the cult star plays Professor Paul Matthews, who increasingly appears in the dreams of those around him, quickly earning him celebrity status. In most dreams he is passive, but not in the nightmares of Molly (Dylan Gelula), who works at an influencer agency… You will discover why and how exactly Nicolas Cage becomes a living nightmare in the Hollywood debut of Norwegian director Kristoffer Borgli (“Sick Of Myself”).
New Movie No. 3: “Alienoid: The Return To The Future”
Last year, the South Korean science fiction action film ‘Alienoid’ was screened at the Fantasy Film Festival. ‘Alienoid 2: The Return To The Future’ is the sequel to the program for White Nights 2024: Once again, fans can expect a wild genre mix between high-tech and the Middle Ages, which revolves around aliens, time travel, a magical sword and ultimately revolves around the struggle for the survival of humanity.
New Movie No. 4: “I’ll Crush Y’All (Os Reviento)”
There is plenty of action in the one-man army thriller “I’ll Crush Y’All (Os Reviento)”, which starts with a very genre-typical motif: Gabriel (Mario Mayo) wants to leave his violent past behind him and lives a quiet life in seclusion on the countryside, where he cares for his 90-year-old father Tino (Antonio Mayans) and his German Shepherd. But as these things usually go, at some point his peace is disturbed by the ghosts of his past, and Gabriel must let his fists fly again…
New Movie #5: “The Last Stop in Yuma County”
It’s not just fans of the Coen brothers who should definitely take a look: When ‘The Last Stop In Yuma County’ celebrated its world premiere at the Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas, critics praised the dark humor thriller . Francis Galluppi’s feature debut is about the chance meeting between a knife salesman (Jim Cummings) and two fugitive bank robbers, and the setting itself – a remote rest stop in the middle of the desert – suggests that we are dealing with harsh genre fare. to do here…
