Even though “The Creator” collects many set pieces from science fiction cinema and was also clearly influenced by Francis Ford Coppola’s century work “Apocalypse Now”, the film enjoys an exceptional position in contemporary blockbuster cinema: not only is the story fundamentally original, film only cost 80 (!) million dollars – which you can’t really tell from the visually powerful work, in the best sense of the word.
Did you miss “The Creator” on the big screen, but would like to keep up with the latest directorial work from “Godzilla” and “Rogue One” creator Gareth Edwards? Then you don’t have to wait much longer, because the science fiction spectacle will be available as a Disney+ subscription from January 17, 2024. That’s less than 4 (!) months after the official cinema release.
We can absolutely recommend “The Creator” to you. For us, the action-packed vision of the future, with ‘Tenet’ start John David Washington excellently cast in the leading role, is actually THE sci-fi highlight of 2023. The conclusion of our 4.5-star review is: “An above all visually visionary sci-fi epic that only misses a few narrative shades of gray to reach masterpiece status.”
That’s what ‘The Creator’ is about

He is tasked with finding an AI developer known only as the “Creator” who has developed a powerful weapon that could end war or wipe out all of humanity…
