Hardly any comedy series in recent memory has brought together such lovable protagonists as the critically acclaimed cop show “Brooklyn Nine-Nine.” But among all the charmers, one stood out: the stoic but kind-hearted Captain Raymond Holt, who actor Andre Braugher brought to life in his own unique way for more than eight seasons. That is why it is particularly sad news, not least for fans of “Brooklyn Nine-Nine”. Braugher died on December 11, 2023 at the age of 61 after a short illness. American trade magazines report this with reference to his agent.
But even before “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” Andre Braugher, who was born in Chicago in 1962, continued to make a lasting impression. And also on the big screen, where he shined mainly in supporting roles – from his first film role in the star-studded Civil War epic ‘Glory’ to the courtroom drama ‘Twilight’ and the sci-fi thriller ‘Frequency’ to Catastrophe – Remake “Poseidon” and the Stephen King horror “The Mist”.
But he really came into the spotlight in the series, where he repeatedly made a name for himself as an upstanding police officer. In particular, Braugher’s role as Detective Frank Pembleton in 100 episodes of the cult series “Homicide” not only brought him great recognition, but also the first of two Emmys (the second was for the miniseries “Thief – The Million Job”, for “Brooklyn He was also nominated four times for Nine-Nine.
