Panamanian cinema stands out in Guatemala

The cinematic representation of Panama at the 26th Ícaro International Central American Film Festival received awards and special recognitions in the Central American section of this regional event.

This festival brought together the best of cinematography from the area and the world in between November 24 and December 2in Guatemala.

Until Panama they are registered 19 movies this exceptional international festival from which 10 productions were selected

The awards went to the feature film “Daughters”, a co-production of Panama and Chile, directed by Kattia González Zúñiga, which won awards for best photography (for Alej Crisóstom) and best costume design (for Alfa García Montenegro and Diana Jiménez).

For their part, they won Special awards for the long documentary, “Chuchú and the General” by Joaquín Horna; short animated film “Mao Lucky” by Luis Carlos Caballero; feature film, “Cumpleañero de Arturo Montenegro”, for best screenplay and the aforementioned “Las Hijas” for best direction.

The local jury in charge of this election consisted of: producer Ana Xochitl Alarcón (Costa Rica), director Jeico Castro (Panama) and film critic Rainer Tuñón (Panama).

The competition was organized by GECU University of Panama and the FAE Foundation, under the auspices of DICINA/MiCultura.
