Puerto Rican artist Ricky Martin will not face charges of alleged sexual abuse or domestic violence against the nephew who accused him of the acts, the local Department of Justice reported this Friday.

As the source explains in a statement, evidence collected by Puerto Rico police and the Ministry of State during the investigation is not consistent with the allegations and does not support the accusations.

In view of this, San Juan Prosecutor’s Office was prevented from initiating criminal proceedings before the court, according to a note from the Ministry of Justice.

Last May, Dennis Yadiel Sánchez Martin, Ricky Martin’s nephew, countersued the artist for $10 million in damages caused by alleged “non-consensual sexual conduct” against him since he was 11 years old.

The counterclaim further alleges that “one year before submitting the application order of protection under the Domestic Violence Act in court, here prosecutor Sánchez Martin repeatedly warned Ricky Martin that he felt stalked and asked him to stop his constant communication.”

Legal disputes between the singer and his nephew began in July 2022, when Sánchez Martin received the aforementioned protection order for his uncle, which was later filed.
