Many of his fans know Charlie Sheen mainly through his successful sitcom ‘Two And A Half Men’, which sometimes dominated ProSieben’s programming schedule. But the lavish acting star is also no stranger to harder material – whether it’s the classic war film ‘Platoon’ or the action thriller ‘Deadly Speed’.
Meanwhile, the science fiction action game “Interceptor – Phantom of Eternity” is relatively unknown. The film was only shown in a shortened version in German cinemas and only the shortened version was also available on videocassette. Since its DVD premiere in 2002, the film has also been available uncut in Germany, and has even been available on Blu-ray for a few years now. Now it has been added: Starting this week, “Interceptor” is available as a remastered edition on Blu-ray – uncut, of course.
The Blu-ray includes the film with a new image transfer and revised sound mix and numerous extras, including various audio commentaries and featurettes.
“Interceptor”: gangs, car racing and revenge
Teenager Jamie is murdered by a bloodthirsty punk gang during a car race. But then a stranger appears who apparently has supernatural powers in a sleek, inexplicably fast supercar: the Turbo Interceptor! The unknown man hunts down the brutal gang, especially their leader Packard (Nick Cassavetes), who in turn harasses Jamie’s grieving friend Keri (Sherilyn Fenn) and her boyfriend Jake (Sheen)…
Other roles include Randy Quaid (as overwhelmed sheriff GL Loomis) and Clint Howard (as gang technology expert Rughead). The 1980s oddity was written and directed by little-known filmmaker Mike Marvin, who later directed films with titles like “Hawaii – The Erotic Paradise.”
The names that appear on the soundtrack are probably much better known than Marvin: Interceptor is a film that explores the youth culture of the 1980s and is filled with rock hits from the era, including Ozzy Osbourne, Mötley Crüe, Billy Idol and Bonnie Tyler.. The original film score comes from German electronic musician Michael Hoenig (“The Blob”) and J. Peter Robinson (“Freddy’s New Nightmare”).
