The first season of “Ahsoka” left many questions unanswered. The villain Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen) and his night sisters have left for the ‘Star Wars’ galaxy we know, while Ahsoka (Rosario Dawson) finds herself on the undiscovered planet together with the droid Hyang (David Tennant) and Sabine Wren ( Natasha Liu Bordizzo) Peridea is stranded. Since the season finale on Disney+ in early October, it has been clear to fans that the story cannot end here, but Lucasfilm has not yet officially confirmed a sequel to “Ahsoka.”
The fact that a feature film from ‘Ahsoka’ creator Dave Filoni was announced at the Star Wars Celebration in April this year gives hope that some story elements from the series will be included. But hopes have now been sparked that a second season of ‘Ahsoka’ could already be in development – by Dave Filoni and his leading lady Rosario Dawson himself.
“Ahsoka” creator Dave Filoni is said to be already working on a concept for season 2
As the creator of the series said in an interview with explained that there are still many untold stories in the world of “Ahsoka” that he would like to expand on: “I spun many threads that could go further. If not, at least I brought Ezra home, that was very important to me. But there is always a plan. I hope we see this one someday. That would be pretty cool, but it took a while [die erste Staffel von ‚Ahsoka’] do, so you never know.” He added Jedi Master Yoda’s iconic quote from “The Empire Strikes Back”: “The future is constantly changing.”
But lead actress Rosario Dawson is also confident that things will continue to go well for her character and ‘Ahsoka’. This is what she explained in an interview with that Filoni was already working on a concept: “They haven’t told us anything officially yet, but when we were at the Star Wars Celebration in London, they said, ‘We’re giving Dave a movie!’ I had a feeling this also meant we would get a second season. Because of the strike, no one can say for sure. But [Dave Filoni] said he was working on a design. So we’ll see.”
How will season 2 deal with Ray Stevenson’s death?
If there is actually a second season of the series, the question remains how the series will deal with the death of Ray Stevenson, who played the ambivalent Baylan Skroll. In the season finale, Skroll, like Ahsoka and her comrades, finds herself stranded on Peridea – but unlike the title heroine, with her own agenda to explore the planet’s mystical power. For Dave Filoni, Skroll’s story is untold, like him opposite revealed:
“Of course there is a story behind that. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens. But I’m glad the discourse is about how great Ray was… I had a lot of little arguments with him saying, ‘Ray, you’re the bad guy here.’ And he said, ‘I don’t see it that way.’ And I thought, ‘I know you don’t see it that way, but you do. But I love that you play him like you’re not.” Because Baylan thinks so too.”
While Baylan Skroll could be played by a new actor for upcoming Ahsoka stories, fans will have to wait for a definitive answer.
