BTS seeks to grow in the Latin American market

Hybe, the agency behind successful South Korean bands such as BTS or NewJeans, has announced the establishment of a business unit based in Mexico to expand the presence of its artists in the Latin American market and discover, train and produce new local talent.

“Hybe Latin America will serve as a bridge for Hybe label artists to better establish themselves in one of the music markets the fastest growing in the world and as a foundation for the development of new artists and content,” the company explains in information sent by email to EFE.

The company plans to “establish a localized T&D (training and development) system and artists and repertoirewith the employment of top producers, composers, managers and artists.

To form your Latin American unityHybe has acquired Exile Music, a subsidiary of Exile Content, a company founded by Colombian journalist and producer Isaac Lee, for an undisclosed amount.

Lee will serve as president of Hyba Latin America and will also retain his position as CEO of Exile Content, which will continue to be a division of American Candle Media.

With Lee’s appointment, the Bang Si-hyuk-founded agency aims to create “a strong partnership with Contents of exile with the aim of creating content optimized for the Latin market” and states that in the long term it seeks to “graft the proven K-pop methodology into the Latin genre”.

Big Hit, founded as a small agency in 2005, eventually became the largest company in the world of K-popsurpassing the combined value of the three former giants of the sector, SM Entertainment, JYP Entertainment and YG Entertainment, thanks to the formation and management of bands with global reach such as BTS.
