After the short film “Code 8” was received with much love, it was quickly decided to turn the story into a full-length feature film. The sci-fi adventure starring ‘Arrow’ stars Stephen Amell and his cousin Robbie Amell became a mega success at home theater in 2019. No wonder the sequel was quickly greenlit.
But here a small change can be observed: if the first part was available for a while as a subscription to Amazon Prime Video (it is now available there for a fee or alternatively via a channel), things now look different. The sequel “Code 8: Part II“will be released exclusively and only on Netflix in 2024. The streaming service with the red N secured the rights to the sequel.
That’s what “Code 8: Part II” is about
After 14-year-old Pav’s (Sirena Gulamgus) brother is murdered by corrupt police officers, her life is in grave danger. Because she witnesses how those responsible sweep the crime under the rug. Pav turns to two former criminals, Connor (Robbie Amell) and Garrett (Stephen Amell), who form a small part of humanity with superpowers.
With their help, the young girl tries to survive and get justice. But facing them is the merciless Sergeant King (Alex Mallari Jr.), who does everything he can to stop Pav and her helpers. At the same time, there is great tension between Connor and Garrett…
As with “Code 8,” Jeff Chan took over directing again. Chan co-wrote the screenplay with Jesse LaVercombe, Sherren Lee and Chris Pare. The sequel’s ensemble also includes Jean Yoon and Aaron Abrams. Robbie and Stephen Amell not only star, but are also executive producers.
