In the middle of Corona, ‘Venom 2: Let There Be Carnage’, the sequel to the comedy action hit, was released in cinemas in 2021 and – despite the unfavorable circumstances – grossed more than half a billion dollars at the global box office. It is therefore no wonder that it was quickly decided that Tom Hardy would return to the role of the spider. “Venom 3”, directed by Kelly Marcel, should come to our cinemas on July 11, 2024. But nothing comes of that now.
Until now, it seemed as if the comedy campaigner had not been affected by the long strike of screenwriters and actors in Hollywood. On the contrary: the theatrical release of the sequel was brought forward by a few months. But fans of the annoying antihero were happy too early because this date could no longer be met. Instead of July 2024, “Venom 3” will now not hit theaters until November 8, 2024 – a full 4 months later.
This will most likely also have consequences for the German start date. Although there is no confirmation of the postponement yet, it can be assumed that it will take place in November. Of course, we’re still hoping that we won’t have to add any extra waiting time and that the film will open in this country just before its US release.
What is ‘Venom 3’ about?
Little is known about the plot of Sony’s latest Marvel movie. Of course, this fact hasn’t stopped fans from already speculating about what “Venom 3” could be about. Perhaps the antihero will join the MCU’s current multiverse trend — which wouldn’t be all that unlikely given the end credits scene in “Spider-Man: No Way Home.” Here we could see that not only Peter Parker (Tom Holland) had to deal with the consequences of the (self-inflicted) chaos, but also Venom (Tom Hardy), who came from another cinematic universe (produced by Sony and not Disney) was involuntarily involved in the whole.
In the end, even a small part of the symbiote remained in the parallel world. The course has therefore been set for Venom to also experience an adventure in the multiverse. If you want to refresh your memory before starting, you currently have the option to do so on Netflix. You can find both “Venom” and its sequel “Venom 2: Let There Be Carnage” in the streaming giant’s offering.
