Discover Switzerland on foot. Blick and those who participated in Ochsner Sport’s “26 Summits” hiking campaign this year did so from May to October. In every canton there was a peak waiting to be climbed. For each completed hike, hard-working summit participants can earn points and earn instant rewards.

The goal of hiking enthusiasts? Climb as many peaks as possible to rise in the rankings and win the challenge. “26 Summits” took place for the fourth time this year. The community currently has approximately 30,000 registered hikers.

He circumnavigated the world four times

The marchers were busy. They have hiked over 185,000 kilometers together this season. This is almost four times the circumference of the Earth. They were located at an altitude of almost 10 million meters. A strong performance!

Each “26 Summits” route has its own unique feature. While some of the climbing sessions challenged the participants, others allowed them to explore. But one peak has captured the hearts of all trekkers. With a total of 1009 climbs, the Niedermachen Chulm NW summit was the most popular of the fourth edition of the hiking campaign. No wonder, because this route is rewarded without the best sporting performance. Once you reach the top, the view extends vertically into the depths and the view into the distance is almost endless.

Explore Switzerland with 26 hiking trails

In addition to those who have been part of the “26 Summits” challenge since the first year, there are also hiking enthusiasts who are participating for the first time. Giedre Apuokaite (39) is one of them. She started steeply and climbed all 26 peaks. “The 26 Peaks Challenge gave me the perfect opportunity for adventure and turned each peak into a playground with a treasure hunt that my kids loved,” the Lucerne native said.

Apuokaite had his moment with “26 Summits” when he overcame tough challenges at Mittaghorn in the canton of Valais: “An exciting experience with magnificent views, a variety of conditions and an icy summit!”
