1. There is too little salt in the cooking water

2. Fat in cooking water

6. Rinse the pasta

Never rinse pasta with cold water. This will remove starch from the pasta and prevent the sauce from sticking well to the pasta. When you drain the pasta and put it in the pan to mix with the sauce, be sure to add a few spoonfuls of pasta water first.
