The oldest dog in the world according to the Guinness Book of Records is dead. The Rafeiro dog named Bobi died at the age of 31 at his home in the Portuguese village of Conqueiros, his owner Leonel Costa told local media on Monday.
Accordingly, Bobi spent his last moments happily in his home. He “made a lot of people happy, especially his family,” Costa said.
Guinness World Records named the animal the world’s oldest dog in February. When authorities confirmed Bobi’s age at 30 years and 266 days, the Rafeiro dog became the oldest dog of all time. As Guinness World Records announced, Bobi died at the age of 31 years and 165 days.
Rafeiro dogs tend to have a fairly long average life expectancy for dogs ranging from twelve to fourteen years. According to his owner, the secret of Bobi’s long life was his loving home, surrounded by cats in a small village. (sda/afp)
