Panama, the epicenter of contemporary dance

These days, the XII edition of PRISMA – International Contemporary Dance Festival is being held in Panama.

Panama emerged as the epicenter vibrant and exciting of contemporary dance in the region.

This internationally known cultural manifestation enchanted audience of all agesbecoming a celebration of creativity and diversity of artistic expression through contemporary dance.

Among the companies and artists who have already left theirs a footprint on the stageare: &Co Compagnie (France), “Shoulder to shoulder”; Cia. Gramo Danse (Panama), “Hrs”; Stephanie Lee (Panama), “Sketch of an Incomplete Animal”; Prisma Lab Juvenil (Panama/Mexico); Prisma Lab Professional (Argentina/Panama); Marcat Danza (Spain), “Forest”; and Nadine Gerspacher’s company (Germany), “Non-Upgraded Existence”.

Among these presentations to be shown more functions include: Madmen and Poets (Netherlands), “Postcards from a Better Place”; Coco Danza (Panama / Israel), “Being Human Being”; Cia. Kiko López (Spain), “Wiwbak”; Hung Dance (Taiwan), “Birdy”; Roser López Espinosa (Spain), “Cometa”; Eleonora Dall’Asta (Panama), “Soft”; and Jo Strømgren Kompani (Norway), “The Ministry of Unresolved Feelings”.

“Asia and its connection with the isthmus”: This year vol. PRISM presents an extraordinary presentation by the Taiwanese company Hung Dance, which will perform the work on October 19 at the National Theater
Birdy, a creation by choreographer LAI Hung, in which the choreographer explores the complex dynamics of freedom and oppression, delving into the connection between the social context and communities in Taiwan: how seemingly trivial events such as emotions, interactions Social or long-term effects of history consciously or unconsciously imbue society with fear, conflict or balance.

Through dancers portraying the image of a cage and a dreamer, Lai skilfully expands the boundaries between an individual’s most intimate feelings, the dynamics of relationships and the broader context of the individual within society, culture or the world in which we live.

“Evening in the European way”: Ceremonial closing of the edition PRISM number 12—Panama International Contemporary Dance Festival will be led by the renowned Norwegian company Jo
Strømgren Kompani, on Saturday, October 21 at 20:00 at the magnificent National Theatre.

This excellent company will present itself with the piece “Ministry of Unsolved Feelings”, a creation of the Norwegian choreographer Jo Stromgren, where the Ministry of Unsolved Cases has few resources but an important mission.
