Competition for “The Walking Dead”? The first photos of the zombie series from the creator of “Meg 2” are here!

Filmmaker Ben Wheatley has already served us films of very different genres – in “Sightseers” it was comedic, “High-Rise” with Tom Hiddleston gave us dystopian tension, and with “Meg 2: The Deep” there was just some humorous monster action in it the cinema. Now Wheatley unleashes the zombies on us, in series format: He is currently filming the miniseries “Generation Z“.

And these aren’t just any zombies, they’re British – and the humor with which Wheatley peppers his series should be dryly British too, because that’s what it’s all about not a serious horror drama as we often see in “the living Dead“, but rather a satirical examination of Brexit, which divides the British population.

“Generation Z”: Brexit zombies

The whole thing is wrapped in a coming-of-age parable about our very strange times with a large portion of exceptional bloodis the description of the six-part series from client Channel 4.

There are now the first photos of “Generation Z” showing where the bunny is going – we’ve already added one above as a news photo: Because it is mainly retired zombies that British youth have to deal with in the miniseries. When a mysterious military chemical shipment crashes outside a retirement home in a sleepy British town, the residents develop a craving for human flesh. The town’s teens have their own problems, but they rise to the occasion against the unsteady threat.

“Generation Z” is currently filming in Wales and stars Sue Johnston (“Downton Abbey”), Paul Bentall (“The World’s End”), Robert Lindsay (“Wimbledon”), T’Nia Miller (“The Haunting of Bly Manor”). “) and Anita Dobson (“The Worst Witch”).

In Great Britain the series will be shown on Channel 4, the start date has not yet been announced. It remains to be seen when and how “Generation Z” will be shown in Germany – but until then, there will still be plenty of zombie essentials for genre fans to pass the time with. For example, it was just announced that “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon” with Norman Reedus will finally start on MagentaTV on December 8, 2023, after the first season has already ended in the US.
