Samsung S90C: That’s why the new OLED TV is worth it
To be more precise, the S90C is not a pure OLED display, but one QD OLED display with 120 Hz. In practice the difference is hardly noticeable. Ultimately, QD-OLED TVs have a slightly better anti-reflective coating and a slightly higher peak brightness than OLED TVs.
Noisy Hifi.de mirrors the S90C only 0.4 percent an external light source. Just the brand new one LG OLED G3* has an even better anti-reflective coating, but also costs considerably more. In addition, the high viewing angle stability. It hardly matters from which angle you sit in front of the 4K television. The picture is always excellent.
The biggest drawback of the S90C is the lack of support for the Dolby Vision HDR format. However, given the great image quality, this is bearable. Especially because many TVs with Dolby Vision are more expensive than the Samsung. The controls also take some getting used to.
The S90C offers otherwise all the features of a high-quality 4K television, including four HDMI 2.1 inputs, various gaming technologies such as VRR and ALLM, a good Smart TV menu and better sound than LG’s competition.
Sony A75K: the alternative to the S90C
An alternative to the Samsung S90C is the Sony A75K with 55 inches for currently 1,188.69 euros at Galaxus.
Just like the S90C, Sony’s affordable OLED television impresses with an excellent picture, but also offers Dolby Vision support, even better sound and intuitive operation. To do this you have to accept a loss of peak brightness and do without HDR10+.
