Surprisingly, I saw a very exciting movie this weekend. «Old», a thriller. Why am I so surprised about this? After Marvel movies on repeat and Star Wars prequels and sequels, it was refreshing to see something new indeed. You already know: different story and protagonists, new landscapes, plot twists.
Sure, plenty of other movies have come out in recent years that weren’t that bad, but you might have missed them. Here’s a – our – selection of them.

A family plans a multi-day trip to the sea. The beautiful beach turns out to be strange, because anyone who sets foot on it ages very quickly. Especially the children get to feel the extreme aging process. It’s a race against time to get off the beach, but it’s not that easy. The movie is gripping from minute one, a little creepy – but still pleasantly scary – and the ending is just great.
