The PRISMA 2023 festival and its cultural impact

The twelfth edition of the Panama International Festival of Contemporary Dance, known as PRISMA, begins today, Thursday, October 12.

This cultural manifestation will have more than 40 actions that include presentations to the public, activities in schools, art workshops and creation laboratories.

In this 2023 edition, Norway joins PRISMA for the first time, representing the company Jo Strømgren Kompani, which will be in charge of the exciting closing gala of the festival.

The country you join international representation artists from nine countries, including Germany, Argentina, Spain, France, Mexico, the Netherlands, Panama and Taiwan, represented by 14 dance companies and a cast of famous dancers.

This festival is based on three axes of action: performativesocial and pedagogical to comprehensively cover various aspects of cultural expression.

PRISMA’s mission is to entertain, educate and influence diverse audiences, including those not exposed to cultural expressions of this kind.

Nadine Gerspacher (Germany), COCO Dance (Panama), Madmen and poets (Netherlands), Roser López (Spain), Hung Dance (Taiwan), Kiko López (Spain), Eleonora Dall’Asta (Panama), Andrea González (Panama), Stephanie Lee (Panama) and Jo Strømgren Kompani (Norway).

– 3,692 proposals received from applicants from approximately 100 countries per year.

– 143 (view, scientific). companies/choreographers participants from 34 countries.

– 732 participating artists arrival from at least 50 countries.

– 185 educational activities with around 2600 participants.
