The forests appear in bright colors and the leaves rustle with every step. Autumn is the best time to lace up your hiking boots and soak in the magic of autumn. Want golden light and a bit of nostalgia on the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau? Just reaching the start of this hike is an experience. The historic Schynige Platte Railway takes you to Schynige Platte via Alp Breitlauenen. This great day tour starts from there, hiking the ridge over the Faulhorn to First. It offers a magnificent panoramic view, as well as breathtaking views of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau, as well as Lake Thun and Brienz. If you have less time, you can start hiking from First to Faulhorn and back.

You can experience the mysticism of the Eiger’s world-famous north face up close, without any ropes or carabiners. The new 3S Eiger Express train takes guests from Grindelwald Terminal to Eigergletscher station in just 15 minutes. From here the Eiger Trail descends to Alpiglen in about two and a half hours. The legendary north face of the Eiger is so close to you that you can truly feel its mysterious and legendary aura. The beautifully landscaped mountain hiking trail also offers stunning views of the Lauberhorn, Kleine Scheidegg and Grindelwald. With binoculars and a little luck, you may even be able to see the rope tackle on the wall. The road winds through steep mountain meadows, roaring torrents and waterfalls, all the way to the Alpiglen train station.

When the valley is buried in a sea of ​​fog, there is pure sunlight in Harder Kulm. A breathtaking view on Interlaken’s local mountain awaits all visitors. The wide panoramic road also offers comprehensive panoramic views of Lake Brienz and Lake Thun, the Bödeli between the two lakes and the majestic peak group of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. Starting from the mountain restaurant, the path initially continues as a rocky but quite wide mountain road with a significant incline until Hardergrat. This is followed by a slow descent via a narrow path to Wanniwald, Elfenweg and eventually Harder Kulm. If your stomach starts grumbling after an hour’s walk, delicious meals await you at the restaurant. By the way: For sunset fans, daily evening excursions make the trip perfect.

The most idyllic place in the region is Bachalpsee with its famous mountain view. When there is no wind, the Schreckhorn is reflected in the crystal clear water. The lake travels around the world like a postcard, but no photo can reflect the charisma of the mountain lake. To do this, you need to make your own decision. It’s not very tiring. Lake Bachalpsee can be reached on foot from First in less than an hour. A wide variety of mountain vegetation lines the sides of the road. Gentian, silver thistle, blue verbena, jewelweed, cottonwort and mountain anemones are just a few of the flowers and plants that can be discovered through detailed signage. Just before Lake Bachalpsee, the flower path continues towards Bachläger and Waldspitz. Streams gush out from all sides.
