‘One Piece’ continues to do well on Netflix, but another series is setting the record

Netflix has it again Weekly charts submitted. Unsurprisingly, “One Piece” leads this one. Measured in the figures for the week of September 4 to 10 The anime adaptation tops all Netflix titles with 19.3 million views worldwide. This is another 800,000 more views than in launch week, which isn’t a surprising increase. Finally, for the first time, a full week was measured with all seven days.

There were still two days missing in the launch week due to publication on Wednesday and measurement from Monday to Sunday. ‘One Piece’ is now in the top 10 in a total of 93 countries around the world, and in the majority of those (over 70 countries) it has even held the top spot on the charts all week.

Not outstanding – but enough for a second season?

The very stable numbers so far could be a signal to Netflix that enough fans are clamoring for a second season to warrant it. However, we will probably continue to monitor progress in the coming weeks, because it is also clear that the result is strong, but far from excellent.

So ‘One Piece’ is well behind the figures of the most successful Netflix series hits. It would almost take a miracle to get into the top 10 of Netflix’s most successful series to date. The spin-off ‘Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story’, currently in tenth place, was well ahead of ‘One Piece’ in its second week with about 25 million views, the same as in its first week.

The Netflix sensation of the week comes from Germany

Especially since another series is already threatening to overtake ‘One Piece’ – and it even comes from Germany. The dark thriller series “Sweet Child“A sensational 10.2 million views were collected in the launch week. The numbers are so remarkable because the series only started on Thursday, so they only had four days to do it. And it is a German-language series, which may have a more difficult time internationally.

But so far the opposite has been the case. The miniseries is already in Netflix’s top 10 series in 84 countries – and even tops the weekly series charts in eight countries. Above all, the thriller production based on a bestseller by Romy Hausmann has set a record.

Netflix record for ‘Dear Child’

No German-language Netflix series has ever launched with such good figures. “Liebes Kind” has overtaken the previous record holder “The Empress”, not only in terms of viewing hours, but even in viewing hours. According to both measurements this is the case the most successful German-language series start of all time. However, this record should be marked with a small asterisk.

When previous German series hits such as ‘Dark’ or ‘Barbaren’ were released, Netflix did not publish any figures. The global home views and opening hours of these titles are unknown. However, due to the general development of Netflix’s figures, it cannot be assumed that they are ahead of “Liebes Kind”. So you can say with a high degree of certainty that older series will not change the record for ‘Liebes Kind’.
