Cinema: Less profitable sequels

Sequels are, according to many, on the list of the most anticipated films, but sometimes they are not so successful, because there are films that generated as much as 99% of losses.

A study conducted by Cinematic Tearjerkers, with data from the IMDb platform, showed a list of tapes that brought the most losses to creators.

The repercussions who lost the most (total budget movie compared to gross box office) are French “Visitors 2” (“Les couloirs du temps: Les visiteurs II”) and “Dominion: The Exorcist Prequel”, which was released in 2005, with an impressive 99% loss.

The worst rated sequel is “Son of the Mask”after which follows “The Man in the Garden 2” (“The Lawnmower Man 2”).

“Son of the Mask” also leads a list the consequence that decreased the most in his qualification compared to the first film.

Film studio Tearjerkers ranked the lowest-grossing sequels ever, comparing the film’s total budget to global gross income. We present you the top 5, according to this research.

1- Visitors 2 (1998): The budget of this film was 23,000,000 dollars; his global income $146,072; and his profit percentage change was -99%.

2- “Dominion: The Exorcist Prequel” (2005): The budget of this film was $30,000,000; his global income $251,495; and his profit percentage change was -99%.

3- “Manderland” (2005): The budget for this film was $14,200,000; his global income $674,918; and his profit percentage change was -95%.

4- “Son of the Pink Panther” (1993): The budget of this film was $25,000,000; his global income $2,438,031; and his profit percentage change was -90%.

5- “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood 3” (1994): The budget of this film was 2,500,000 dollars; your global income $2,500,000; and his profit percentage change was -89%.
