Musk is generally said to have been optimistic about his daughter’s new identity.

He sees the main reason for breaking off contact as the school Vivan goes to. “She went beyond socialism and became a true communist who thinks everyone who is rich is bad,” Musk says in the book. Accordingly, he had “made a lot of progress”, but she didn’t want to spend “time” with him.

According to biographer Walter Isaacson, Musk said his daughter’s decision was a difficult one.

It wouldn’t be the entrepreneur’s first family setback. In 2002, the father of ten children lost his first son to a sudden infant death. Musk and his then-partner Justine Wilson found their son lifeless and not breathing.
