Dairy products can prevent cardiovascular diseases

Milk consumption brings a number of health benefits, and one of them is the prevention of cardiovascular diseases, which are the main cause of death in the world.

According to international health organizations, more people die each year from one of these diseases than from any other cause, so it is advisable to take healthy measures (diet, habits and physical activity).

Study “Prospective urban rural epidemiology” (PURE) from 2018, published in the journal “Lancet”, pointed out that the consumption of dairy products is associated with a reduced risk of mortality and serious cardiovascular diseases.

The researchers who led this study show that consuming three dairy products a day, compared to consuming half a serving a day, is associated with a reduction in cardiovascular disease and mortality between 14% and 23%.

Cardiovascular diseases are associated with excess weight and poor nutrition.

The report he submitted Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) 2023 reveals that in Panama, 73% of adults are overweight.

The risk of death from all causes is higher in people with severe obesity, and mortality in people with morbid obesity is 12 times higher than in normal people.’

Frequent consumption of some foods such as milk and its derivatives could help prevent cardiovascular diseases, says nutritionist Francisco Herrera Morales.

“It is important to emphasize that cardiovascular diseases can be prevented if appropriate measures are taken in time, either by changing eating habits, good medical and nutritional control, and exercising under the supervision of competent experts,” says nutritionist Francisco Herrera Morales.

Tips

Francisco Herrera Morales, nutritionist at Productos Nevada, offers some tips for the prevention or control of heart disease.

– Dairy products: three daily portions (milk, yogurt and cheese).

-Meat: Prefer white meat and fish, this way, maximum 2 times a week red meat and at least 2 times a week fish rich in Omega 3 such as tuna, salmon, trout or sardines.

– Fruits and vegetables: 5 a day is very good, 8 a day is the ideal goal for the heart.

– Cereals: Consume at least 50% in whole grain versions rich in dietary fiber.
