Juice, granola bars, toast: You shouldn’t eat these for breakfast every day.

Breakfast is often called the most important meal of the day. There is no scientific consensus on whether it is really healthy to eat in the morning. The truth is, observational studies have shown that people who regularly eat breakfast are healthier overall.

For example, a study by the Harvard School of Public Health in Boston (USA) showed that the risk of heart disease increases if people do not eat breakfast for years. Whether this is due to the morning meal or to a more conscious lifestyle in general cannot be definitively clarified.

There are big differences in food preferences among regular breakfast eaters: Both sweet and savory dishes are popular in the morning. However, some foods should be excluded from the breakfast buffet, or at least not eaten every day.

waffles and pancakes

Waffles and pancakes are breakfast classics. Unfortunately, these delicious favorites are largely made up of wheat flour and sugar and are often combined with desserts. The feeling of fullness quickly disappears and hunger returns in a short time. In addition, since the blood sugar level drops after the initial rapid energy boost, sugar makes you tired. Of course, you can have pancakes or waffles from time to time, but something more nutritious is recommended for your daily breakfast.

Sugary juices and smoothies

Unfortunately, many ready-made juices sold in the supermarket also contain large amounts of sugar. If you like to drink fruit juice, it is best to squeeze it fresh yourself or pay attention to the content while buying juice.

low-fat yogurt

Yogurt is also very popular: A low-fat version is often used to avoid consuming too many calories. But fruit varieties often contain sweeteners and additives. As a result, the body receives less energy and hunger quickly resumes. If you want to consciously pay attention to being low in calories, you should choose low-fat quark.

white bread and toast

White bread or toast contains almost no nutrients, causes constipation easily, and provides energy for only a short time. They are considered fattening foods because they do not keep you full for long due to their low fiber content. It is better to eat whole wheat bread or rolls, it will stay in the body longer.

bacon

Anyone who eats a pretty salty breakfast probably started their day with bacon on their breakfast plate. Due to its high fat content and often too much salt, this dish is quite unhealthy and therefore should not be eaten every day. Alternatively, boiled eggs are better for the body.

muesli bar

They are often not as healthy as they seem and contain a lot of sugar. However, they are a popular morning snack as they can be eaten quickly on the go. If you do not hurry, you can eat a much healthier muesli: homemade from oatmeal, nuts, seeds, dried fruit and fresh fruit, for example, with some yogurt, milk or oat milk.

sweet cereal mixes

Like muesli bars, instant cereals of all kinds are often heavily flavored. If you start eating unhealthy foods in the morning, you can consume a significant amount of sugar throughout the day. In the long run, it will not only make you fat, it will also make you sick.

Paste with sugar and fat

Whether it’s chocolate, caramel or peanuts: Spreads with lots of sugar and fat are delicious, but not exactly healthy. Jams can also contain a lot of sugar. As is often the case when it comes to eating, it’s all about enjoying your meal in moderation. Fresh fruit is much healthier as a daily sweet snack.
