It is no longer a secret that the police series “The Rookie” is currently on everyone’s lips and not only goes up and down on American television, but also celebrates great success with streaming services such as Netflix and Disney +. The ABC series, about police officers who are just starting their careers and still have a lot to learn, has become a great success that will last at least six seasons. Season 5 recently started in Germany on Sky and WOW, and the sixth season is actually expected in the US in Spring 2024. Actually…
Will the new episodes really be in the box by then? When it was announced a few days ago that “The Rookie” actor Nathan Fillion would be taking on a bigger role in James Gunn’s new DCU, fans of the series were naturally just as concerned. After all, Fillion must not only transform into the superhero Green Lantern for “Superman: Legacy”, but also take on the role in the series “Lanterns”. That generally sounds like quite a bit of screen time! So when should Fillion play cop John Nolan in The Rookie?
Season 6 of “The Rookie” is coming!
But the fact is: Season 6 of “The Rookie” is coming and according to co-creator Alexi Hawley, who spoke out via Twitter, the airing will not be delayed by Fillion’s DCU commitment.
With a simple “no,” Hawley replied to a question TV Line tweeted, “Can Nathan Fillion’s Superman movie role as Green Lantern delay season 6 of ‘The Rookie’?” Fans should calm down on the short answer. However, Hawley has not revealed exactly how and when the cop series will continue…
Most importantly, he’s not commenting on whether Fillion’s new DC commitment could see his role in the cop show reduced, or whether he might only appear in some of the episodes in the sixth season.
Not only the DCU could stand in the way of “The Rookie”…
Hollywood has been in chaos for weeks. While Hollywood’s screenwriters initially walked out, now unionized actors are also on strike – and there are many, many of them. Series like “The Rookie” are also affected and of course James Gunn’s new DCU is no exception.
That ‘Superman: Legacy’ will really hit theaters on July 10, 2025 should be just as uncertain as a start of the sixth season of ‘The Rookie’ in the spring of 2024. Nothing is certain at the moment. Whether Alexi Hawley knew about this at the time of his July 12 nopes is hard to say.
It’s entirely possible that Nathan Fillion could juggle The Rookie, Superman: Legacy, and Lanterns. How exactly this could work, we have already explained in the following article:
