This strategy got me Taylor Swift tickets

In “A Promise is a Promise,” a father (Arnold Schwarzenegger) tries to get his son an action figure – and in his desperation, he nearly walks over dead bodies. That’s kind of how I felt today.

The assignment was to get a minimum of two, a maximum of four tickets for Taylor Swift’s concert. My daughter is a huge fan – and it would make the ideal birthday/Christmas present, including for my godson. The remaining two tickets would be for the fathers. The girls are just a little too young to go to such an event alone. “It’s about creating memories,” my ever-bright colleague Anna Rothenfluh said on the occasion. How right she is. Both would never forget this concert. And I can write about it afterwards and charge a card as an expense. That’s the plan.

Good.

I cleared the first hurdle of being selected for advance booking. But that, the organizers threatened, is by no means a guarantee for a ticket. And indeed: the buying attempt turns into a gauntlet run. When I already think I’m a safe buyer, the real nail biting begins. Because one error follows another. And soon it will be said: There are only VIP tickets.

Ultimately, it is a simple risk-reward calculation. Another 15 minutes of clicking takes me… 15 minutes. In the end, I agreed to be filmed – making a fool of myself on camera. And so the employer also has something of my odyssey.

However, the possible profit from the joy of the two girls would be gigantic. And that is why in such cases you have to show a certain ignorance and stubbornness.
