Do you have some change on hand and can you imagine calling sunny California home? Then James Cameron’s property might be something for you! The director of ‘Terminator’, ‘Titanic’ and ‘Avatar’ is now selling his 700 square foot Santa Barbara home, along with 400,000 square feet of land, for just $33 million reported. While one could easily get lost in the images of the majestic complex, the reasons for the sale would normally not interest film fans. But in this case it is, because Cameron is leaving his home for professional reasons in no small part.
There’s no point in continuing to live here, as he will be spending a lot of time in Wellington and Los Angeles in the future, as well as Austin, Texas – working on the future of “avatar” And “Alita: Battle Angel” to work!
“Alita: Battle Angel 2” is coming – and more?!
After living on the ranch with his family for more than two decades, now is the time to part with it. After all, the children are now as good as out of the house and – especially interesting for film buffs – Cameron seems to see himself bound to major projects in the coming years for which his old hometown is not suitable.
“I’m working on ‘Avatar’ in Wellington and Los Angeles,” says Cameron, who will shoot the upcoming sequels in the US and New Zealand just like the two previous installments. So far, so familiar. But then the filmmaker casually mentions, “And I’m going to be in Austin working on the new ‘Alita’ movies. So it just doesn’t make sense to us anymore.”
While many fans of the first film about the cyborg warrior of the same name may have long since given up hope that a sequel will actually be worked on four years later, the omens now seem better than ever. Considering the international gross of only $405 million (with an estimated production cost of $150 to $200 million), that was hardly to be expected.
At the same time, the sci-fi actor is building a loyal fan base, which has consistently campaigned for a sequel in recent years – for example, under the hashtag #AlitaArmy. So, similar to Zack Snyder’s Justice League, which was made after fans clamored for the Snyder Cut for years, it could now continue with Alita, played by Rosa Salazar. This is exactly what many fans of the movie (as well as the author of this article) have been asking for since the first movie hit theaters. Not least because it finally ends on a cliffhanger – which makes you feel like you’re just at the beginning of something big.
“Alita 2”: How could it continue?
For those who may not know “Alita”, the movie is currently available on Disney + …
… and for all those who have seen the movie and therefore can not be spoiled anymore, we have of course thought a lot about how “Alita: Battle Angel 2” (and now in a possible “Alita: Battle Angel 3 “) could go further. After all, the dramatic end of the sci-fi action film, in which Alita’s lover Hugo (Keean Johnson) falls on the way to Zalem, leaves a lot of room for speculation. And the Ober-Bug played by Edward Norton? We just got to see it! Just like the mysterious Zalem.
While Rodriguez and Cameron didn’t take a bloody oath to make a sequel until late 2022 and talks on this were also confirmed several months ago, Cameron’s home sale to date is probably the strongest indication that we’ll actually have at least one more “Alita” – go to the movies. Maybe even more.
