The list of new additions to “Mortal Kombat 2” is getting longer and longer. After it was announced in recent weeks that Johnny Cage, Kitana and Jade as well as Jerrod, Sindel, Quan Chi and Shao Khan are joining the cast of characters in the sequel, producer Todd Garner has now posted a message on Twitter reveals that another popular video game character will also make an appearance: the Baraka, who is equipped with sharp teeth and extendable forearm blades.
However, Garner has not yet revealed who will play Baraka in “Mortal Kombat 2”., but only posted a picture of an empty set chair with Baraka’s name on Twitter. Maybe this should remain a secret for now or the character hasn’t been cast yet. However, the IMDb states that newcomer CJ Bloomfield will appear as Baraka – since all users can enter changes to the movie database, this information should still be viewed with caution.
There is also no official information about the role of Baraka in “Mortal Kombat 2”. In the video games, he is from the dark realm Outworld and belongs to the Tarkatan race. He may be one of Outworld Emperor Shao Khan’s subordinates (Martin Ford), who appears to be the new main villain of Part 2. That’s how it was at least partly in the video games. But maybe that’s not the whole story:
That says an interesting rumor that Baraka was initially going to be an adversary to Johnny Cage, but switches sides over the course of the filmbecause he is so impressed with his martial arts. Baraka is said to be a fearsome but noble warrior. The site reported as early as April 2023. Since itself has already managed to distinguish itself in the past through appropriate exclusive reports and the list of newcomers revealed by the site has now been confirmed, there could be something to it.
Does Karl Urban look like Johnny Cage?
Speaking of Johnny Cage: Producer Todd Garner already posted a photo on June 24, 2023 showing that a large part of the cast of “Mortal Kombat 2” is having lunch together. It also features newcomers Tati Gabrielle (Jade), Adeline Rudolph (Kitana), Ana Thu Nguyen (Sindel), and Desmond Chiam (Jerrod). Charles Urban seen here beardless and with bleached ends – a taste of his Johnny Cage look?
It also marks the return of Jessica McNamee (Sonya Blade) and Ludi Lin (Liu Kang). Since the shooting of “Mortal Kombat 2” has already started, nothing stands in the way of a summer 2024 release. The sequel has no official launch date yet.
